Rucola is classified as a medicinal plant. It provides vitamins A, B, C, K, and contains a lot of iron, zinc, potassium and calcium. Rocket leaves are harvested before they bloom. They are added to salads, sandwiches, cottage cheese and cold meat. Rucola is a thermophilic plant. RUCOLA ERUCA SATIVA sown in the ground needs a sunny and not too humid position, sandy and loamy, enriched with compost.
Plants up to 20 cm tall have the best taste, but Eruca Sativa arugula can reach up to 100 cm in height when flowering. Arugula (rocket) spreads easily. Seeds from plants sown in spring emerge in the same year and harvest in the fall. Arugula must be sown when the day is short enough to prevent it from blooming too early.
Arugula sowing dates: from March to May – but only the first days of May, the second sowing from August to the first days of September.
