Botanical tulips are one of the more original groups of these popular bulbous plants. They are most often low and produce star-shaped flowers in various colours. The flowering stems are surrounded by long, grassy, dark green and even leaves.
This species grows best in fertile, quickly warming, moderately moist, permeable and fairly light soil. It prefers a sunny position, although it will also bloom in the shade. The bulbs are planted 6-8 cm deep and at similar intervals. They do not have to be dug up before winter, but it is worth covering the planting site with a garland of twigs or mulch. Botanical tulips are perfect for rockeries, borders of flower beds and paths, as well as for planting in large groups on a mixed perennial flower bed.
