Runner Bean Dry Seeds ‘Piękny Jaś’
A bean variety grown for dry seeds. It is a late, climbing variety. Piękny Jaś is usually cultivated in a strip-row system, where double rows form bands. Seeds should be sown individually at a depth of 4–5 cm. When grown with poles, place 4 seeds per planting spot; when using strings, sow 2–3 seeds per spot. Dry bean crops should be grown in the second year after manure application. Pods ripen unevenly, which requires multiple harvests.
The plant can grow up to 4 meters tall, so support is necessary. The seeds are large, white, slightly flattened, with smooth skin and a clearly kidney-shaped form. They are firm and evenly filled. The weight of 1000 seeds can exceed 1200 g.
Due to its high protein content as well as vitamins and minerals, it is especially valued by vegetarians. It is also known for its potential anti-cancer properties.
