Chinese bean is an exotic plant that produces pods similar in taste to string bean pods, but their length differs strongly. It is a real treasury of many vitamins and mineral salts, mainly B vitamins as well as iron, calcium, phosphorus and zinc. Although this species is quite demanding as to the growing conditions – mainly due to its thermophilic nature – planted from seedlings it will grow well in our garden.
Date of sowing and planting: Seeds are sown under covers from mid-April to May, and planting is carried out in May, after the spring frosts pass. In warmer parts of the country, you can try cultivation from direct sowing into the ground in mid-May. Seeds are placed quite shallow, 1-2 cm deep, because if sown deeper, they may not germinate.
Harvest date and storage: Pods can be harvested from the third decade of July to the first frost in mid-October.
