Lemongrass is one of the species of grasses in the Poaceae family.
It is often grown in Mediterranean countries. In African countries, in Georgia, India and Malaysia, citronella oil is produced from it, which includes citral, used in the production of perfumes and in medicine.
In Asian countries, drinks and soups are prepared from it. The most popular example of the use of lemongrass is the Thai soup Tom-yum, with a distinctive, spicy-sour taste. It is also recommended as an addition to tea or for brewing.
